The Cyber Janitors Arrive
Q: What is a cyber tour? A: The ability to communicate who you are and what you are doing instantly, no matter where you are, to the entire world that is wired via the internet. The world's population is 5.5 billion. The popluation of the internet is 200 million. Which is only four percent of the entire world.... oh well.... At least we're communicating.
It is important that we use the internet to express what we are doing in the HERE and NOW. It is the prime directive of the communication revolution. This is not to appease mankind's need for everything quick and instant, but to create an eternal historical record of what went on in this time and place.
Bratislava has been wired to the internet since after the days of the Velvet Revolution in 1993. The internet has been their pipeline to the rest of the civilized world. Communication has greatly aided them in developing their country. Even the local Rol'nik (peasant) knows what a modem is. So Hazardous Media is no anomaly in this town.
A.J. Catoline (a.k.a. Netwit) spent hours searching all the Elektrick Skladovaty (electronic stores) of Bratislava looking for the right wires and cables to attach us to the internet. It was a challenge, but well worth it... Netwit spent this entire afternon in the Slovakian Vinaren (wine cellars) figuring out how to use this equipment.....
There are so many characters and stories here in this town (pop. 1 million). To think of all the people throughout history that walked these cobblestone streets before you. If these cobblestones could only talk. If the could email, forget about it...
After spending a few days here, Hazardous Media has encountered a remarkable story and a remarkable person, who once lived in a castle on a Bratislavan hill, and who has changed the face of the entire world.....
In 1698, the Russian Tzar Peter the Great visited Bratislava. Napolean arrived in Bratislava at the end of August 1809. Hazardous Media's NETWIT and MAX, featured here in respective order, arrived just a few days ago. We have embarked on a special journey, what we believe to be the first ever cyber tour of eastern europe.
Before our story continues, just a word about the Hazardous Media Cyber Janitor's who have travelled across oceans to jam the waves of the internet with these pictures and words.
Meanwhile, after spending the entire afternoon in the Vinaren Claude Kananack (a.k.a. Max) emerges to search far and wide for the local Lopatka (scoop) here in Bratislava. Overwhelmed by so many stories, he had to take a breather on the steep Schody (stairs).
